On Tuesday 15 October we will be screening Robot & Frank in partnership with the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival. This is an exciting additional screening to our other Autumn Film Club ones in partnership with The Glad Cafe.
We also hope to be screening a short film from a local filmmaker to tie in with the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival and the theme of dementia that is explored in Robot & Frank.
The film will start at 8pm, doors at 7:30pm. Tickets are £6 (£5 for concessions) and are now available from The Glad Cafe and online from Tickets Scotland (booking fee applies)
All Film Club screenings are held at The Glad Cafe, 1006a Pollokshaws Road, Shawlands (opposite the five-a-side football pitches).
Synopsis: Set in the near future, aging curmudgeon and retired jewel thief Frank is fighting a losing battle against dementia and lives a solitary life until his son installs a caretaker robot; against he and his daughter’s wishes. The robot upends Frank’s lonely life – filled only with books and a visit to his favourite librarian – with a strict regimen of exercise, diet and gardening. Stubborn at first, Frank soon realizes Robot has the ability to pull off the most calculated of heists. An unlikely friendship, and crime duo, is born.
