LAST DAY OF THE TRAMS (N/C- suitable for all, 28 mins, 1962)  WITH LIVE MUSIC FROM MACHINES IN HEAVEN |15:00 -DOORS 14:30 |TRAMWAY 4 |£8/£6 http://www.wegottickets.com/southsidefilm

In September 1962 over 250,000 people came out to say goodbye as the last trams passed through the Glasgow streets. This event will present rarely screened archive material shot in 1962 by the Scottish Association of Amateur Cinematographers* with a specially composed live score by Govanhill based band, Machines In Heaven – ‘with a fearlessly experimental approach, the band bring together widescreen electro, sunshine-textured shoegaze, majestic post-rock and devastatingly melodic synth-pop influences.’

This screening and performance will be followed by a discussion about memories of the trams and oral histories from the community and composing music for archive from the band.

We are asking people to send us their memories of the trams in Glasgow for a special screening and event Last Day of the Trams at Tramway on Saturday 3 June. More info here or email us on southsidefilm@gmail.com by Monday 15 May.

This event is presented in partnership with Tramway.

*The SAAC is the forerunner of The Scottish Association of Moviemakers, a charity based organisation dedicated to all aspects of amateur filmmaking.
